OTJIWARONGO – Three armed robbers allegedly raided a bar at Grootfontein in the early hours of Tuesday and fled with N$88 000 from the safe.
Namibian Police head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in an interview with Nampa yesterday said the alleged robbery took place between midnight and 01h00.
“The three suspects allegedly entered the bar through the door and held three employees at gunpoint. They ordered them to lie down while one of them jumped over the counter and took money from the unlocked safe amounting to N$88 000,” Mbeha said.
The suspects further grabbed the security guard’s cellphone and fled.
Mbeha said the robbers are unknown to the victims, and no arrests have been made in connection with the robbery yet.
She urged business owners in Otjozondjupa to not keep large sums of money in their premises in order to avoid losses through theft and/or robberies as the festive season approaches.
Police investigations in the matter continue.
