RP’s Paulse aims for safer Khomasdal

The Republican Party’s (RP) candidate for the Khomasdal constituency for the 2025 Regional and Local Authorities election, Daphne Paulse, is committed to reducing crime by enhancing safety and eradicating drugs from the constituency.

During a recent interview, Paulse promised to increase surveillance and visible law enforcement to ensure the safety of Khomasdal residents. “I will introduce neighbourhood watches that are responsible for 24/7 watch together with policing foot soldiers to ensure the safety of our community, young and old,” said the politician. Recent reports indicate that Khomasdal is a haven of drug-related incidents, homeless people, and crime.

“I will ensure to safeguard riverbeds in Khomasdal and dodgy areas, which are breeding places for evil and crime,” she said. For the last six years, Paulse has served as a spiritual counsellor for the Khomasdal homeless community.

With her background in morality and social justice, her campaign strategy epitomises her commitment to revitalising the social atmosphere of the constituency.  Paulse also aims to prioritise employment opportunities for Khomasdal residents through special projects.

“As a collective effort, the Republican Party will strive to eradicate poverty and address the government’s failure of the last 36 years. I will initiate, support, and subsidise sustainable labour-intensive development projects throughout our region,” she said.

Her campaign is centred on four key pillars. These include integrity, confidence, perseverance, and passion.  Other key priorities under her campaign include empowering the youth, enhancing healthcare provision, and promoting transparency and accountability.

She has promised to introduce housing for the Khomasdal residents.  “I will provide fully serviced land to Khomasdal residents to ensure affordable housing to the most vulnerable of our community. I will also ensure that our roads are properly maintained. It is the rainy season, and the potholes are not fixed, while those that are fixed have bigger holes again,” said Paulse.

Youth unemployment, healthcare

Under youth empowerment, Paulse aims to equip young leaders with innovative ideas through educational programmes after school and during holidays.

“As a party, we will upscale our sports facilities where discipline is a fundamental aspect of growing a healthy community. Youth involvement can improve their academic performance and their behaviour too,” she said.

In her effort to improve healthcare in Khomasdal, Paulse has assured residents that she will establish more clinics fully staffed with registered nurses and available for medical attention 24/7.  She has also committed to providing free medication for the community’s residents. “The vulnerable and pensioners will get free medical treatment,” she said.   If elected, the candidate has pledged to adopt an open-door policy, ensuring transparency and accountability.  “I will also delegate responsibilities amongst communities who are committed to a better living standard for all,” she said.
