RUNDU – The Namibian Police in Rundu have arrested two teenagers, aged 17 and 18, after they allegedly robbed and stabbed to death a male teenager at the town recently.
The two suspects are due to make their first court appearance today.
The victim was identified as Paulus Kahili, a grade 8 learner at Sikanduko Combined School.
The incidence which took the 17-year-old Kahili’s life, occurred at Rundu’s industrial area – between the Agro Marketing and Trade Agency and Puma service station along John Mutorwa Road.
“Progress is made in the case of the murder of a learner as per Rundu Cr120/03/2025, which occurred on Friday, 14 March at about 15:30 at Rundu,” said deputy commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu over the weekend.
It is alleged that the victim was found walking in the street where the two boys approached him, held his hands from the back, and stabbed him in the chest.
They thereafter robbed him off a cell phone before fleeing the scene.
“The two suspects were arrested on Friday, and charged with murder. Both are residents of the Sauyemwa location. The murder weapon was seized, and the cellphone that was stolen from the deceased was also recovered,” Kanyetu said.
In an unrelated incident on Saturday, a 43-year-old man was discovered dead with a stab wound in the neck at Rundu’s Tuhingireni informal settlement.
Deputy commissioner Kanyetu said the police could not make out the motive for the murder.
There was no sign of a robbery or fight, as nothing appeared to have been stolen from him, and all his belongings were intact.
The victim, Nestor Ngunda Ndara, was found near a toilet at his brother’s yard after he was last seen alive at Etameko bar around 03h00 in a company of three friends.
No suspect has so far been arrested.
Police investigations continue.
