RUNDU – As Rundu continues to give birth to raw talent, local artist Theobart Mbangu Namakasa (25), popularly know as Blazzah, is trending with his latest offering ‘Valekese’. The song is currently making waves in the bends of the river town of Rundu.
In the hit, he featured Elle Mwanakachokwe.
The song was nominated as Best Song of the Year in the upcoming Kavango Youth Music Awards, slated for December. “It’s up to my fans to do the right thing, I did my part and I cooked a hit for them,’’ he said.
Born and bred in Rundu, Blazzah 11 months ago dropped the Mbuto album.
Two years ago, he released the Vishaki music video, which also made him a household name in his hometown. “I have always loved doing music ever since I was a child. It has always been in me. When I got older, I looked for the services of a music producer to produce for me instrumentals. We did the first song. In 2022, I released my first album, titled ‘Heart Desire’, where I shot about eight music videos. The rest is a testimony – all these videos are on YouTube,” he shared. In December 2024, he dropped a new video with Rundu-based Mandjandja Films, which went viral. Blazzah narrated that the challenge with upcoming preforming artists is the lack of connections.
Those who are not linked to any promoter or manager are struggling to get on the stage to perform because promoters and event organisers are only booking the ones they shake hands with.
“For some of us, we are bringing up hit after hit, but they are refusing to give us the stage,’’ he said.
Blazzah’s latest offering is the Valekese album, which he is still busy recording.
He promises it will soon be out there.
Valekese means ‘tell them’ in Nyemba.
“My journey is not an easy one. I love doing music but it is expensive to get to the studio. Being unemployed, it is really difficult to get to a studio and record. I’m not signed anywhere, so I struggle to make sure that my fans get the best. Without a manager and a sponsor, every little cash I get, I invest into my music projects. I’m pushing so that one day I will become a big shot to represent my country on international platforms,’’ he said.
“To my fans and all music lovers, just expect hot vibes – expect fire. The album is coming with life motivations, love and all,’’ he remarked.
