Windhoek
As widely anticipated, South Africa and Egypt won the gold medal in the U21 Africa Cup ladies and men’s competition respectively.
South Africa defeated a hapless Zimbabwe 10-nil on Monday morning while the Pharaohs had a tough battle in the final against the South African men’s side.
With their goalkeeper saving their day on multiple occasions, Egypt scraped through 3-2 to claim gold.
Earlier on Monday, Namibia’s U21 men’s team put up a gallant showing against
Zimbabwe, but for some strange reasons lost momentum after having what looked like a legitimate goal disallowed, which could have given the hosts a 3-2 cushion.
Zimbabwe seized the opportunity and scored two quick goals to claim the bronze medal via a 5-3 triumph.
