Anna Amukoto and Leonard Namupala were recently crowned champions of the annual Sam Nujoma Half Marathon in Swakopmund.
Namupala took top honours in the men’s 21-km event with his impressive time of 1:06.05,while Amukoto was the top finisher in the women’s category over the same distance after crossing the line in a time of 1:12.19.
The men’s 21-km veteran’s division was won by David Salomo with his time of 1:07.57, while Sieglinde Gontes clocked 2:21.03 to win the women’s version of the race. Johannes Muyenga was the winner in the men’s 21-km junior category with his time of 50:06, while the women’s junior category was won by Mechtilde Mukerenge in 2:03.23.
In the 10-km race, Hennie van Niekerk was the winner in the men masters’ division with his time of 59:43 while Ulla Burd scooped first place in the women masters’ division in 52:45.
Thomas Shigwedha clocked 33:01 to win the men’s junior category while Selma Makanyi was the winner in the women’s junior section after crossing the line in 44:49.
