Brave Warriors head coach Bobby Samaria says he is satisfied with Thursday’s one-all draw against the Red Devils of Congo-Brazzaville, and with how his charges put up a good fight against a very tough opponent.

The two teams played during their opening matches of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers at the Orlando Stadium in South Africa.

“We fought hard against Congo. I’m satisfied with the draw, although we could have taken the three points. We dropped two points; we had the game in sight. The first game is always crucial, and we take the lessons from this game. It was the first match and anything can happen in this group. We have to keep the momentum,” said Samaria.

On playing at the Orlando Stadium, coach Samaria said: “The 12th man was not an issue, as most of our players play here, and the pitch was top-notch. So, we will continue pushing to be the best and among the best”.

Namibia took the lead midway through the first half as defender Charles Hambira found the back of the net with a powerful header.

Congo equalised on 57 minutes from a loose ball, which Guy Mbenza buried into the back of the Namibian net to level matters.

Namibia was scheduled to play Togo in Lomé yesterday afternoon at 18h00.

The Brave Warriors will then visit Senegal on 6 October and host them at the Orlando Stadium on 10 October 2021.
