WINDHOEK – Namibian musician Savannah Collins or better known as ‘Savannah unplugged’ has just released her first, original hit single, titled Alone.
Written shortly before she performed it live at this year’s Namibian tenth anniversary Namrock festival this month, she recorded her soulful song at the Windhoek recording studio of ‘Wouter de Bruyn’. Alone highlights Savannah’s skilful acoustic guitar playing and sultry vocals, which by adding a subtle studio mix, has created a song that has a fresh, simplistic and very catchy sound that will appeal to a wide audience. Alone , which is a blend of Rock/Country Soul is fast becoming a ‘must listen’ amongst music followers across the globe. Choosing to support a local Namibian recording studio and build on her ‘proudly Namibian’ status, Savannah is also planning to enter the upcoming Namibia Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) with her brand new sound for Best Non Album Single.
Already there is a huge buzz on social media surrounding her song, which will soon be played on Jammerzine, one of Americas hit radio stations next week together with interview and air play on Namibia’s radio stations . Savannah, who is in her second year of contemporary NQF4 music study at the College of Performing Arts (COPA) in Cape Town, South Africa, plans to release a full album next year, as she is heading back into the studio early January. The album will include original Blues/Rock songs she has performed live such as Be Free and Found Myself.
At just 20-year-old, Savannah who has multiple live shows, performances and gigs to her credit, takes pride in being an all Namibian product with her own unique sound and style. Whilst being true to her roots as an artist, she is working hard to get her music out there both on home soil, and internationally.
