The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) has cautioned its members on a recent scam attempt. The fund has warned all its members, annuitants, spousal and children beneficiaries about a recent scam attempt advising GIPF clients to report to the fund’s offices to receive money.
“The fund urges its members to be vigilant and protect yourself from such fraudsters. Members are further urged to not entertain such fraudulent calls, provide any personal and or financial details, verify, reply and or click on any links that may be provided by fraudsters. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information and we urge our members to immediately report any suspicious activities to info@gipf.com.na. The fund takes the security and safety of our members seriously,” read a statement issued on Friday.
GIPF also recently reported a significant number of unadmitted employees from participating employers, despite the requirement for all permanent employees to be admitted to the fund. The most affected employees were those working within the education ministry, accounting for approximately 75% of members not admitted to the fund, or those who experience delays with their admission.
Members who are not sure of their admission status are urged to visit the nearest GIPF office, or to log onto the Fund’s website, and follow the directions on the ‘Member Portal’ under the Self-Service Kiosk tab on the main page.
