WINDHOEK – A sixteen-year-old schoolgirl was raped in Windhoek on Saturday afternoon by two unknown men.
According to the Namibian Police’s weekend crime report the young girl was relaxing near Jan Mohr High School when she was approached by two strangers who grabbed her and took her into some bushes where they took turns to rape her.
It is further alleged that the perpetrators also stole the victim’s cellphone and necklace.
No arrests were made as yet and police investigations continue.
In another incident that happened over the weekend a Namibia Defence Force member is facing a charge of murder after he shot and killed an alleged burglar in his home.
According to NamPol spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi the suspect was woken up by noises outside his house at Erf 2494 Biotemelo Street in Greenwell Matongo on Friday evening at around 23h00.
When he investigated he saw two men outside his window and fired two shots in their direction, but their companion who was already in the house grabbed his arm and tried to wrestle the firearm from him.
In the process the third burglar was shot dead.
According to the police, a flat screen TV was already on the floor ready to be taken out.
Upon a search of the deceased a red screw driver and cellphone were found on him.
Police investigations continue.
