Despite legacy challenges, the financial position of Seaflower Whitefish Company continues to improve after reopening the fish processing factory almost two years ago, the company’s general manager finance, Paulus Ngalangi, has noted.

The new board of directors and management has implemented a turnaround strategy to return the company to profitability.
“If you look at our past performance, the company had not performed so well in terms of profit, but that has since changed. We are at the final stage of completing our strategy report that will guide our operations for the next five years. The management team is young, dynamic and well committed to deliver on the objectives contained therein, and all are hungry for success,” Ngalangi stated.

Ngalangi made these remarks during the company’s meeting with Dr Audrin Mathe, the CEO of New Era Publications Corporation (NEPC) – who also serves as chairman of Public Enterprises Forum. Mathe recently paid a courtesy visit on Seaflower Whitefish in Lüderitz.

NEPC chief commercial officer, Glenda Strauss, accompanied Mathe and they also had a chance to observe the operations on the processing line, and how the Seaflower Whitefish Company operates.

Seaflower Whitefish resumed production in 2014 after crippling vessel problems forced it to close. The company has since acquired new vessels and repaired one of the old ones, putting it back in full production.
