WINDHOEK– The Namibian Theatre Initiative (NTi) presents the phenomenally popular parody The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged’) tonight at the College of the Arts (COTA) Theatre School.

The three day play started yesterday and will run until tomorrow. It is written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield and premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1987 and has been one of the world’s most performed stage parodies for the last 27 years. The Complete Works of Shakespeare is a hilarious, fast-paced frolic through Shakespeare’s extensive playbook. Helouis Goraseb, Nelago Gloria Shilongoh and Ndinomholo Ndilula, weave their wacky way through Shakespeare’s Comedies, Histories and Tragedies and some others in one wild evening as directed by Sandy Rudd. “I had to wait for the right actors to do this piece, whilst it is extremely funny, it is also extremely difficult to do, as it needs exceptionally good comic timing to make the show work as the most hilarious show you have ever seen.  Who better to play this difficult piece but the cream of Namibia comic and acting talent? Teamed up the highly talented Ndinomholo Ndilula, Helouis ‘Weezil’ Goraseb & Nelago Gloria Shilongo, we have makings of a great night of frivolous fabulous fun. What a great treat to work with such a depth of talent,” says an enthusiastic Rudd.

Shakespeare is the last of many plays sponsored by the National Arts Council staged at the Theatre School, Warehouse Theatre and the NTN produced by the NTi. The NTi aims to create a consistent repertoire of theatre productions that speak to youth infrastructure development. NTi aims to foster, create and promote theatre of the highest standards through training and empowering young Namibian theatre practitioners to sustain themselves through their artistic talents. The play for tonight and tomorrow starts at 18h30 at the theatre school car parking. Entrance fee is N$50 at the door. You are advised to bring a cushion.
