Shaningwa cautions against Swapo betrayal

NCUNCUNI – Swapo Party Secretary General (SG), Sophia Shaningwa, has warned that party agents stationed at all polling stations must remain loyal and not betray the party by giving its votes to other parties.

She emphasised the importance of placing trusted and loyal agents to safeguard the party’s interests.

Shaningwa recently addressed Swapo members and supporters at the official introduction of the party’s candidate for Ncuncuni constituency, Leopoldine Nseu, at Sikali village in Kavango West region.

“Swapo party agents, young men and women, the polling agents and counting agents make sure that the Swapo party votes are not given up to another person, for the vote that belongs to Swapo must ever belong to Swapo, the vote that belongs to Nseu should be put on the ballot papers where our candidate Cde Leopoldine Nseu is,” she said on Sunday.

She said that if those entrusted with polling and counting make a mistake, the party will lose.

“If you go there and sleep, you are going to make Nseu and others lose, and we are not here to lose; we are here to win. That is the commitment I see here. The young ones going to monitor our systems represent the party’s interests,” she noted.

“Please ensure that you send trustworthy people to represent us at the polling stations. Don’t send individuals who are Swapo during the day and something else at night. You should send Swapo cadres to represent us, regardless of whether they are your cousin or best friend, but only if they are trustworthy. Do not make the mistake of sending untrustworthy people because that is our only weapon on 26 November—our only weapon, the AK47 that we have—is that cross closer to Meme Nseu and other Swapo candidates to take over these constituencies, including Ncuncuni.”

Shaningwa said it is very important for the members to understand that the rally aimed to motivate and sensitise voters, sympathisers and supporters of the Swapo party, to vote for Nseu and other candidates in the Kavango West region constituencies and elsewhere in the country.

“I smell victory, you are only 2 900 potential voters and what I see here is over half of that, don’t now say that you have voted already, don’t say we won already because you are many, you are not going to win if you didn’t go and cross, it is only through a cross that day, which should be placed nicely in the middle of the block, that will make comrade Nseu win as a constituency councillor and a win for Swapo party. Please come out as you are here today, come 26 November, and vote early in the morning at various polling stations,’’ she said.

Apart from the Swapo candidate Nseu (incumbent), two other candidates are running for office in Ncuncuni: Michael Naiteta, an independent candidate and Elizabeth Muronga for IPC.
