Skeleton Coast premieres today

The Pan-African film, Skeleton Coast (2024), is set to captivate audiences with its visuals and compelling narrative. The film’s grand premiere is scheduled for today and tomorrow, at the Ster-Kinekor Grove Mall in Windhoek.

Skeleton Coast (2024) tells an epic tale of resilience, culture, and adventure, weaving together the rich narratives of Africa’s diverse heritage. Directed by Robert O Peters, it features an exceptional cast including Thapelo Mokoena, Cindy (South Africa), Ini Dima Okojie (Nigeria), Mawuli Gavor (Ghana), Hollywood legend Eric Roberts, Namibia’s very own Armas Shivute and lead actress & executive producer Tjuna Daringo. The film is a testimony to the power of African collaboration and creativity.

“Skeleton Coast is more than a film, it’s a celebration of African unity and creativity. We are proud to showcase Namibia’s stunning landscapes and unique stories on a global stage,” said Peters, the director of the film.

Namibian actor Shivute told VIBEZ! that he had an amazing experience during the production and on set. The highlight of this experience was the opportunity to share the screen with international and well-recognised actors. “It was truly an honour, and I learned a lot from this experience. This production stood out, even though I have been in the industry for some time now. What made it special was its international touch,” he said.

He added that, regardless of experience level, whether you’re a seasoned actor or a newcomer, one should always be open to learning from more experienced individuals.

Shivute said that during production and on set, everyone shared their knowledge and experience, which was invaluable to him.

“We didn’t face any challenges, and we’re proud of the team for a job well done and for giving everyone a chance to be part of the production and set,” he said. Shivute played the role of Tate Petrus in the film, Tate Petrus was a manager of a camp where scientists visited and did their research that led to the discovery of a precious stone.  -pmukokobi@nepc.com.na
