SKW’s Under/15 side capped off a thrilling MTC HopSol Youth League finals weekend with a commanding 6-0 victory over DTS at the Jan Möhr Sports Fields.
They sealed their dominance in Namibia’s most prominent youth football competition.
The victory marked the highlight of a packed weekend, featuring finals from the U/9 to U/15 divisions, showcasing emerging talent from across the country.
The event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony celebrating individual brilliance and community impact across all age groups.
In the U/15 final, SKW’s fluid attacking football proved too much for DTS.
There were standout performances from top goal scorer Nathan Goliate netted 17 goals this season, and goalkeeper Luca Ahrens, who conceded only seven goals all year.
SKW’s Francis Kolomani was named most valuable player, while coach Enrico Tjiramba received the coach of the year award.
Tjiramba praised his team’s hard work and the league’s developmental impact.
“I am excited about the win. It’s been a great year. At SKW, our main focus is on developing players and helping them enjoy the game. We play with a system, building from the back and we always motivate the boys to learn from their mistakes,” he said.
Despite their defeat, DTS coach Mabasa Kufahakutizwi lauded his young side’s performance.
“Exceptional. These boys are just 12 years old playing against opponents three years older.
This league gives them something to dream about and keeps them off the streets. It’s been amazing,” he said. In the U/15 runners-up awards, Riverheights FA were named team of the year, while their coach Penda Ndivayele reflected on the challenges and lessons of the season.
“We struggled physically but played good football. The boys improved a lot this year in their movement and understanding of the game. We’ll work on fitness and mental readiness next time,” he said.
Across the other age groups, the finals delivered high-scoring matches and emerging stars.
In the under-13 division, SKW edged JAFC 2-1, with Pamoja Football’s Jordan Tobias finishing as top scorer with 18 goals.
In the under-12s, JAFC dominated with a 7-0 win over Riverheights FA, powered by Rouben Chipeld’s 20-goal season.
JAFC A claimed a 3-1 victory over Ramblers in the under-11 final, while SP Warriors’ Osvaldo Gariseb took most valuable player honours.
In the U/9s, SKW and Swallows played out a 1-1 draw, but DTS’s Nabel Reis stole the show, netting 36 goals this season to secure the golden boot.
The finals drew strong community support, highlighting the league’s growing influence on youth development.
MTC HopSol Youth League co-founder Collin Benjamin praised the players’ commitment and confirmed that the MTC partnership will continue into 2026, marking the league’s 10th anniversary season.
“We’ve had over 2 200 players and around 1 280 matches this year. This league keeps our youth engaged, disciplined and dreaming big. MTC has confirmed another year, and that’s worth celebrating,” Benjamin said to applause from players and parents.
