A record number of 48 teams converged on the SKW soccer field in Olympia last weekend to compete in a total of 78 games to determine the overall winner in each of the U/8, U/9, U/11, U/13, U/15 and U/17 age categories.
Guided by the excellent management team of the hosts, the youth tournament set very high standards and a high level of disciple by all participants.
Eventual winners of the different age groups came from various football clubs and youth academies. “The fact that 48 teams showed up goes to show that the clubs and academies have whole-heartedly embraced the concept of youth development at club level.
“If the commitment and effort shown by all the players continues in the same vein, we are certainly on the right path of building a healthy base for football development in Namibia,” said SKW PR Manager Rolf Beiter at the conclusion of the two-day tournament.
Beiter also applauded the Retirement Fund Solutions for their generous financial assistance.
