Be smart and skip bank queues

Home Business Be smart and skip bank queues

WINDHOEK – As the end of the month draws nearer, bank customers are being encouraged to skip the queues by banking smartly with the latest technology.

In an effort to ensure convenient and accessible banking, Standard Bank Namibia launched the Standard Bank Smart App at the end of the last year.

“Our experience is that Namibians are increasingly using electronic and online means of interacting with one another, but also transacting on a daily basis. Considering that 99 percent of all Namibians have access to or own a mobile phone, it just makes business sense to introduce useful electronic banking channels, products and services that makes life easier,” said Baronice Hans, Standard Bank’s head of personal and business banking.

According to Hans the Standard Bank application allows you to skip the long queues and enables customers to do their banking from a smartphone or tablet. The app allows customers to check their account balance; view a mini-statement; move money between their own accounts and send money to friends or family members.

“It also offers an ATM and branch locator, which is quite handy when visiting a town you are not familiar with and you need to withdraw cash or visit a Standard Bank branch,” says Hans. Other useful tools available on the app are a vehicle and asset finance calculator; a home loan repayment calculator; and a home loan affordability calculator.

This app is available for Samsung and iPhone devices only. In addition, customers must be registered for Standard Bank’s internet banking in order to access and use the app. The internet banking’s credentials also apply to the app.
