Finance minister Ericah Shafudah yesterday tabled the national budget for the 2025/26 financial year.
The government allocated N$1.3 billion to the Sport, Youth and National Service section.
This funding includes N$200 million for the construction of Category 2 stadiums nationwide, N$200 million for basic sport infrastructure development as well as N$50 million to support sport leagues.
The allocation covers various youth programmes aimed at skills development and capacity-building.
The government has set aside N$24 billion for Education, Innovation, Arts and Culture, with a total of N$76.1 billion allocated over the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework.
In the 2023/24 financial year, the then-Ministry of Sport, Youth and National Service received N$473.2 million.
The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture have been merged. Hence, the budget is divided into sections.
