The second edition of the annual Professor Paul Kavishe Tournament is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the JEDS Unam Campus Stadium in Ongwediva, in honour of the late Unam Ongwediva engineering professor for his unwavering dedication to education.
Confirming the tournament, one of the organisers, Mathew Shipena, told Nampa on Tuesday that the event is being organised to honour the former University of Namibia professor for his contributions to ensuring that students received the best education. He describes Kavishe as a great professor who will be best remembered for his role in establishing Unam’s Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology.
“The idea is to honour him, his great work in engineering, his dedication to the cause, including his unwavering role in ensuring that students are well catered for in their pursuit of engineering,” Shipena stated.
He said the event is open to all teams across the country, as the organisers aim to bring together emerging talents and the community in a spirit of unity and sportsmanship, while keeping young people engaged in positive activities over the weekend.
An amount of N$38 200 will be distributed among the top three teams in football, netball, volleyball, basketball, chess and tennis.
