By Engel Nawatiseb TSUMEB An unidentified farm worker in the Guinas Constituency of the Oshikoto region reportedly killed two women and wounded two others before the weekend at farm Natubib near Tsumeb. Police sources at the town confirmed the incident but could not confirm the charges against the alleged killer. The names of the deceased could not be released at the time of going to press as their next of kin were yet to be informed. New Era sources that preferred anonymity related that the incident happened after one of the now deceased women refused to oblige to a relationship proposition from the suspected killer. The suspect is reported to have visited the neighbouring farm Natubib during the afternoon of last Thursday to participate in a soccer match, after which he got involved in the failed love “struggle” with the deceased. Sources noted that the suspect tried to persuade the woman to travel with him to the farm where he was employed but left alone after she declined. “At least an hour after he left, we heard shots at around 21h00. “We did not know what happened but upon close examination, we realized that our farm was hit by darkness (death). Two women died on the spot and the other two, including the mother of the targeted woman were wounded severely,” said a source. The suspected killer is reportedly known in the neighbourhood, but he fled into the darkness after committing the murders. The suspect allegedly returned to the farm where he was employed and was spotted by workers with a 303-rifle. He left the scene without injuring anyone at that farm. Police sources told New Era that the heavy rainfall recorded in that area is hampering the search for the culprit since both farms are difficult to access. Police investigations are continuing. The public has been requested to alert the police on the movements of strangers on their farms. The bodies of the victims were taken to the Tsumeb Lombard hospital.
