Standard Bank Namibia signed a new strategic financial services agreement with the City of Windhoek, strengthening its work with public institutions and supporting efforts to improve the financial wellbeing of Namibians.
The signing ceremony took place at the bank’s head office in Windhoek on Tuesday. The agreement aims to give City of Windhoek employees access to special financial products and support services that promote long-term financial stability.
Under the agreement , employees will benefit from several tailored services. These include Financial Fitness Academy sessions to improve financial literacy, home loan solutions at preferential terms, competitive vehicle and asset finance options, and personal loan concessions with quicker processing times.
The initiative brings together different units of the bank, including employee value banking, corporate and investment banking, and the Windhoek branch. Speaking at the event, Josephine Theodore, acting head of HR at the City of Windhoek, said the partnership will help ease financial pressure on workers. “This agreement with Standard Bank is a direct reflection of our commitment to improving the lives of our employees. By providing access to personal loans and asset finance at reduced interest rates, we are taking the right step to ease financial burdens and improve the quality of life of our employees. We look forward to the positive impact on our staff,” she said.
Karen van der Merwe, head of personal and private banking at Standard Bank Namibia, said the agreement shows the bank’s dedication to providing meaningful financial solutions. “By combining financial literacy initiatives with preferential banking solutions, we are empowering City of Windhoek employees to achieve financial wellbeing and security. This is more than a transaction, it’s a commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive financial future for Namibia,” she said.
She further added that, the partnership marks a major step in expanding Standard Bank Namibia’s footprint in the public sector.
