WINDHOEK – Buoyed by last weekend’s impressive wins over Mighty Gunners and rivals, Orlando Pirates, MTC Premiership runway log-leaders African Stars will this weekend once again be out to maintain their stronghold on league proceedings.
Judging from their last performance, Stars coach Woody Jacobs should have little trouble maintaining their winning streak when they lock horns with relegation-threatened Benfica at the Sam Nujoma Stadium tomorrow at 15h00.
Stars also have another lucky winnable match against basement dwellers Touch & Go also at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Sunday at 15h00.
Also in tomorrow’s other league action, defending champions Black Africa will have no room for errors and will have no choice but to collect maximum points when they face United Stars at the Sam Nujoma Stadium at 19h00, if they are to at least keep table toppers African Stars in touching distance.
BA will conclude the weekend proceedings with another vital clash against league strugglers Julinho Sporting at the SKW Stadium on Sunday at 15h00.
Also on tomorrow at the SKW Stadium, title chasers Tigers will confront coastal outfit LHU Blue Waters in a match that could go a long way in redefining Tigers title ambitions, while on Sunday Tigers will battle it against another coastal team Eleven Arrows, also at the SKW Stadium.
In midweek results, Orlando Pirates kept their league title ambitions intact with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Citizens.
