Strong turnout for first King Price qualifier

Strong turnout for first King Price qualifier

The Windhoek Golf Club proudly hosted the first King Price International Pairs qualifier for the year this past weekend, marking the exciting start of the annual competition that continues to attract enthusiastic amateur golfers from across the country.

With 46 teams participating, the event saw a strong turnout, consistent with previous editions in the series.

The club extended its heartfelt thanks to King Price for their generous support in making the event possible. Special appreciation was also directed toward ABInBev, who sponsored the prizes and added extra value to the day.

After a competitive day on the course, the top-performing teams secured their qualification for the regional finals, set to take place in August 2025. Charl Brits and Etienne Brits emerged as the overall winners with 46 points. They were followed by Antonio Gamito and Hendrik du Toit, who secured second place with 44 points. John Chadyiwa and Justin Mwamba finished third with 43 points.

Olavi Hamutumwa and Leevi Tshoopara claimed fourth place after a three-hole count-out on 42 points, just edging out Bonifatius and Evelyn Paulino, who also scored 42 points but were ranked fifth after a two-hole count-out.

The top four teams have officially qualified for the upcoming regional finals.

In addition to the main event, nearest-to-pin prizes were awarded on selected holes. Hornest Madzivadondo took the prize on hole 3, Brendan Britten on hole 9, Rochel Celliers on hole 13, and Wynand Slabbert on hole 17. The day also featured a lucky draw, with three prizes sponsored by Gert Liebenberg.

Next on the calendar, the Windhoek Golf Club is preparing to host the Bank Windhoek Independence Betterball competition this coming weekend, which promises another exciting showcase of local golfing talent.
