WINDHOEK – About 205 children of veterans of the liberation struggle or struggle kids as they are known, received membership cards of the Namibian Exile Kids Association (Neka) last week, at the Okahandja Park informal settlement where they are currently camped.
Erastus Hedimbi, the group leader informed New Era that they have always been members of NEKA and the Swapo Party, but did not have membership cards.
He added that by having membership cards, NEKA would be better equipped to fight for their rights and solve their problems. “We were also advised to work with NEKA,” Hedimbi added.
He further said they would continue the food for work programme, which they started this year. In January this year, the group started cleaning the Swapo Party headquarters, but have said they are prepared to clean government offices as well or private establishments in exchange for food.
