WINDHOEK – An International University of Management (IUM) student was granted bail in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court yesterday for allegedly assaulting a woman at IUM over a man.

Ester Usiku, 24, faces a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. She informed New Era that she slapped a woman who was “bothering” her because her man apparently proposed love to her.

Usiku said she slapped the victim, her fellow student at IUM. “I don’t have time to look for people,” she said, adding her fellow student was disturbing her, “I was proposed, as she was proposed,” she said.

Usiku was granted bail of N$1 000, she was released before 13h00, in time to write her examination at 14h00. Her legal rights were explained, to her.

She indicated she would conduct her own defence. The matter was remanded to February 9 next year for further police investigations.
