MENONGONGO Gloria Kejarukua, popularly known as Suko White. is roping in the services of Kwaito star Exit to this year’s New Year’s Eve bash in the United Kingdom (UK), Manchester on 31 December.
Kejarukua shared with VIBEZ! that this bash celebrates the end of a vibrant year, and highlights Namibian culture.
“It’s about bringing a piece of Namibia to the UK, and sharing our rich musical heritage,” she said.
2024 has seen a host of local artists gracing stages abroad, proving that not only a handful of artists’ talents are being recognised, but the pool is getting wider. “Namibian artists are gaining more international exposure. This is due to increased interest in diverse music, and the efforts of promoters who believe in our talent.”
The artist-cum-promoter also hosts the Suko White All-Star Tournament, an annual event which brings together a plethora of talented soccer players to compete for cash prizes in Crawley, West Sussex in the UK. “Combining sports and music creates a unique platform for artists to showcase their talent, and for the community to come together. It’s all about supporting and promoting Namibian culture,” she noted.
“The response has been very positive this year. Namibians in the UK are excited to see familiar faces, and hear music from home. It’s a great way to stay connected to our roots.”
Suko added that there are plans underway to further promote local acts in the UK so that theer can be wider nets casts in terms of marketing their music. “We are exploring opportunities to feature Namibian artists in various festivals and shows in the UK. It’s a great way to broaden their audience, and share our culture,” she beamed.
Exit is returning to perform in the UK for the second time, and said it’s a tremendous honour, and a sign of growth as an artist. He has already performed in the UK and Canada. “I am excited to return as a more mature artist. Showcasing my music abroad is a thrilling opportunity to connect with a new audience, experience different musical cultures, and share my passion with fans around the world. It’s both humbling and inspiring to think about the impact and creativity which can come from this international experience,” he enthused.
Performing outside your home country helps to broaden your reach, and exposes your music to a wider, diverse audience. It encourages cultural exchange, as well as personal and musical growth. It also provides new experiences, which can fuel creativity. It’s likewise a testament to the universality of music as a language which can be understood and appreciated, regardless of borders.
On her part, Suko White promised that she is working on new projects. Fans can expect some exciting announcements soon, including new music and collaborations.
“Thank you for your support. Keep celebrating our culture, and stay tuned for more events and music. Your enthusiasm keeps us going,” she continued.
