Home National Suspect sought by cops for dumping foetus

KAYIRA-YIRA – The police in Kavango West have requested the assistance from members of the public, who may perhaps have some information that could help to apprehend the culprit suspected to have aborted and abandoned her infant in the bushes of Kayira-yira village in Kavango West.

The ugly scene was reported to have been discovered on Monday afternoon by minors of between the ages of seven and eight, who alerted an elder from the community, that in turn alerted the police about the grisly discovery in the bush.

“Our officers were called to the scene and they took the foetus to the Rundu State Hospital mortuary which is closer to the scene. The perpetrator is not yet arrested as she is unknown at this stage but investigations in this regard continues,” confirmed Kavango West Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Rudolf Mutonga.

According to the police, the culprit will be charged with concealment of birth if found. “The foetus was discovered in the open, on Monday afternoon, we have asked community to inform us on who they suspect could have done this, maybe they know who was pregnant and so on,” Mutonga said.
