Three suspects arraigned for theft

Home Crime and Courts Three suspects arraigned for theft

Usakos

Three suspects who allegedly stole from a woman in Usakos last Wednesday were each granted bail of N$5 000 on Friday when they made their first court appearance for theft out of a motor vehicle.
The trio appeared in the Usakos Magistrate’s Court.

The three suspects, Valombaleni Ipinge, Minaar Dumelo and Steven Katalani were arrested in Arandis after being pursued by the Usakos police.

The trio, believed to be from Windhoek, allegedly stole N$10 700 from the woman’s car that was parked in front of Jumbo store at Usakos.

According to Deputy Commissioner Kashuupulwa, the trio must have observed the woman’s movements and realised she had a large amount of cash on her.

Kashuupulwa said the woman who was shopping alone allegedly paid for a wardrobe in the shop and went out to assist the shop assistants to load the wardrobe onto her vehicle.

“She apparently placed her bag which contained the N$10 700 on the front seat so that she could assist the men to load the wardrobe. The suspects then caught her by surprise and grabbed the bag and jumped into a blue car and drove away from the shop.”

Kashuupulwa said the police were instantly notified and chased down the blue sedan up to Arandis, where the suspects were arrested with the assistance of First Response Security company from Arandis.

Several cellphones as well as cash to the value of N$70 000 were also found in possession of the suspects.

The suspects allegedly claimed the money belongs to them but Kashupuulwa said they were busy tracking the origin of the money.

Meanwhile their case was remanded to August 17 for further police investigations.
