The Swakopmund municipal council has decided against renewing the employment contract of its CEO, Eckhardt Demasius. This decision was taken during an extra-ordinary council meeting that was held at the town last night. Demasius has been CEO of Swakopmund for about 24 years. His current contract expires on 6 May this year.
Sources in council told New Era that Demasius has indicated that he was eager to have his contract extended for another five years. When contacted today for comment, Demasius confirmed council’s decision not to renew his contract.
