OUTAPI – The Swapo Party regional coordinator for Omusati Region, Erginus Endjala, has urged people to vote for Swapo in the upcoming presidential and National Assembly elections.
The regional coordinator said Swapo is the only party that has the capacity to develop the country, accelerate socio-economic development and eradicate diseases, poverty, ignorance and under-development.
Speaking on behalf of the Founding Father, Dr Sam Nujoma, at a rally in Outapi yesterday, Endjala stressed that all Swapo structures are fully geared to mobilize thousands of peace-loving and progressive Namibians to vote for Swapo and give it another mandate to govern the country over the next five years.
Endjala encouraged Swapo supporters to vote for Swapo so that together they lead the country into victory in the second phase of the struggle for genuine economic independence.
“The priority above all priorities is to unite all Namibians so that we can maintain peace and stability and accelerate all our economic development plans and programmes,” said Endjala.
In Omusati Region the developmental projects planned in the next five years, should Swapo win the upcoming national elections, include modernising the roads between Engela and Anumulenge, Okapalelona and Outapi and Okalongo to Oshivelo sha Kasamane.
In the northern region as a whole, the government also intends to upgrade to bitumen standard the roads between Onhuno-Eenhana, and Ongwediva to Ondangwa to Omuthiya.
Roads that will be gravelled in the next five years include Etoma, Omundaungilo, Epato, Onaushe, Okathitu, Uukwiyu-Uushona, Omuntele and Ompundja.
Currently, the resources availed by government to ensure people have access to basic amenities include the country’s road network which comprises of a total bitumen standard roads network of 6 664 km, while the total length of ongoing bitumen road construction projects is 1 171 km, and 1 480 km for unpaved roads.
“This is another clear demonstration of our commitment to modernize and expand our physical and communications infrastructure in line with our National Development Plan (NDP4) and Vision 2030,” stressed Endjala.
He also mobilized Swapo supporters in singing party and liberation songs while dancing energetically and with vigour to the rhythm.
Endjala who spoke confidently of victory in the upcoming national elections scheduled for November 28 said that events of such nature are meant to remind people of what is expected from each one at the polling stations.
