SWAKOPMUND – Swapo regional coordinator for Erongo Region, Phillipus Heita, says other party political parties cannot ignore the achievements of the Swapo-led government since it was voted into power at independence.
Heita spoke to New Era on Monday regarding preparations of its members in the region for the upcoming presidential and National Assembly elections slated for November 28.
Heita who has been on the campaign trail said Swapo is currently embarking on regional mini-campaigns that already started last week in Okombahe.
Heita says the aim of the mini-ralles is to reach all Swapo supporters and sympathisers and educate them on the importance and benefits that come with Swapo Party being in power.
“We are not only campaigning for votes but are urging all Swapo members to familiarise themselves with the Swapo manifesto, as well as the newly introduced electronic voting machines. We want our members to fully understand what it means to vote and why they should vote for Swapo, as Swapo is the only party that can deliver,” he explained.
According to Heita, Swapo is not making empty promises, but focussing on what the party has done in the past and how it will continue developing the country.
“Namibians are politically mature and they know what Swapo can do for them. They know Swapo is the right party. We can lead this country to further economic emancipation, just as we led the country to independence,” Heita explained.
Heita revealed that at least 30 new members joined Swapo in Okohmbahe last week. Okombahe is known as the stronghold of the minority United Democratic Front (UDF).
“So far our mini-rallies have been well attended and we are looking forward for our next mini-rally in the Democratic Resettlement Community (DRC) in Swakopmund where Swapo supporters and sympathisers will be addressed by Asser Kapere this coming Saturday,” said Heita.
He says another rally will take place on Sunday in Henties Bay, which will be addressed by Cleophas Mutjavikua, Swapo Party member and governor of the Erongo Region.
