Swapo holds massive rally at Outapi

Home National Swapo holds massive rally at Outapi

OUTAPI – Several thousand people braved the heat to attend a Swapo Party rally at Outapi in the Omusati Region on Saturday, addressed by Swapo Party vice-president Dr Hage Geingob.

Some of the people travelled to the rally on bicycles and others in a long convoy of vehicles as part of the road show before the massive rally.

Outapi was resplendent in the Swapo colours of red, blue and green. The rally was held at the Outapi Olufuko Centre which was packed to capacity after business people provided free transport in trucks and bakkies to ferry thousands of people from villages.

Addressing the rally, Swapo Vice-President Dr Hage Geigob reminded the crowd of the achievements of the party over the past 24 years in various sectors of society.

“Swapo government has delivered, we brought independence and development hence it promises to deliver more,” said Geingob.

He said under Swapo the struggle to fight social and developmental challenges such as poverty and economic freedom would continue.

“We still have to address the question of poverty emancipation. But Swapo has delivered since independence,” he stated.

Geingob also called on supporters to buy into the party’s manifesto saying that will help the party to deliver on its programmes, adding that as always the region will make the party proud come the November elections.

“Omusati is a strong home and powerhouse of Swapo,” said Geingob.

And as the road show busses weaved their way around the country playing music, handing out pamphlets and taking the message to the people, they also brought along an element of fun-filled excitement provided by various musicians including the Swapo Ndilimani Cultural Group.

Streets were covered in Swapo colours and residents used every means of transport at hand to make their presence felt.

It was the young and the old and distance did not matter as they came from remote villages of the region to show their support.
