WINDHOEK – The ruling party Swapo is the only Namibian political formation that stands in solidarity with the downtrodden, its youth wing says.
Swapo has always worked towards freedom for the oppressed and social justice for disadvantaged Namibians, Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) secretary Dr Elijah Ngurare says.
Ngurare, in a statement issued on Tuesday, lauded the party’s recently-launched manifesto and at the same time urged the youth of the party to campaign for a landslide victory for the party and its presidential candidate Dr Hage Geingob.
“Swapo Party has no equal, it occupies a special place in the hearts and minds of Namibian people. Many have died for this country to be free and through their blood, which waters our freedom, we must forever pay homage and eternal respect to the fallen heroes and heroines. This is the religious truth that must be popularized even to those would-be political opponents who want to challenge the dominance of Swapo Party,” he said.
Ngurare also said the Swapo manifesto is responsive to their [born frees’] specific needs and aspirations including the call of the SPYL for WI-FI connectivity on national roads as well as internet coverage in every corner of Namibia.
“It is heartening that the Namibian youth have continued to support Swapo and to safeguard this perennial trust and confidence in the party,” Nguare said.
He urged young party members to be foot soldiers and campaign unreservedly for the party in all corners of Namibia.
“Let us spread this gospel everywhere. Our people must continue to believe in Swapo and they must have hope for Namibia,” he said.
