Swapo rallies for support in Swakopmund

SWAKOPMUND – Swapo leaders have urged members and coordinators to intensify their mobilisation efforts ahead of the regional and local authority elections set for later this month.

The party held a townhall engagement with national leaders Wise Immanuel, Veikko Nekundi and Natalia /Goagoses on Saturday at the Multi-purpose Centre.

Addressing supporters, Nekundi said the upcoming elections will be a defining moment for the party in Erongo region.

“We are approaching the elections for the regional and local authorities. This is the date that is going to separate men from boys. It is up to all of us members of the party to make sure we speak with one voice to make sure everyone understands why they should vote for Swapo,” he remarked.

Nekundi added that voters should consider Swapo’s role in the country’s past and present, as well as its plans for the future.

He said Swapo should not  only be  voted for  because of the historically important contribution it made, but because of the present good and the future it will deliver.
“Go house to house. Those who have husbands and wives, tell them to vote for Swapo without shame and without fear,” he said.

Nekundi said Erongo residents have witnessed what has happened when they did not vote for Swapo during the previous elections, judging from the state of the towns.

He stated that those who are running these towns are blaming Swapo despite them being in power.
“This is what happens when you come running without practising properly. You will give birth to stillborn leadership. Now is the moment to reclaim what the people of Swakopmund and Erongo region deserve,” he campaigned.

No enemies

/Goagoses urged party members to remain united and disciplined.
“As a sovereign party, we don’t have enemies. We don’t have opposition. We have proven over the past 25 years that we can take our people out of poverty and to prosperity. Our challenge is ourselves. God must help us unite to push for the victory of the party,” she said.

She encouraged supporters to bring back former Swapo voters.
“Let us fight, house to house, to bring those people who were misled, for them to come back and vote for the party,” she said.
