Welwitschia Music Production, Gariseb Management and the Warehouse Theatre will stage a one-night concert next Friday at the Warehouse Theatre featuring Allen Jonathan aka Swart Baster.

Swart Baster, to be backed by Welwitschia Music Production, is a vigorous stage performer, who has wowed audiences at critically acclaimed events. The concert in the capital city will be no exception.

The concert forms part of the Life’ Frika Festival, which is mainly sponsored by Tafel Lager and will simultaneously serve as ideal platform to launch Allen Jonathan aka Swart Baster’s second release entitled ‘Good Combination’.

The album’s pre-released promotional track, ‘Ding Dong’ became a national favourite and still continues to enjoy the deserved attention on the Namibian radio airwaves. ‘Ding Dong’ also earned nominations in the best Afro-Pop and Best Single categories of 2007 Sanlam NBC Music Awards, which in turn increased anticipation for the album.

“I’m especially excited about being featured as the lead artist at the popular Warehouse Theatre. I feel like my fans are ready to come together to have an ultimate good time with me. This event is very special for me and I have never forgotten the spirit and passion shown to me during my past performances in the capital,” said Swart Baster.

He was born in the north-eastern town of Rundu in the Kavango Region. His early music influences include the likes of the late hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur and African dance and singing sensation Awilo Longomba. He started his music career in 1996 while he was still at school. In 1997 the musician formed a hip-hop group called Naughty Crew 03. In search for a studio to record his music he joined Welwitschia Music Production and in 2003 released a debut album titled ‘Naughty Boy’.

Since 2005 he has been pursuing a solo music career and has since become a seasoned backing vocalist and dancer for Phura and Stella. All these experiences helped him to become a popular live vocalist and performer. In that same year he released his solo album ‘Kaisosi’.

Swart Baster’s second release entitled ‘Good Combination’ is scheduled to be launched on February 29.
