Swartbooi authority anoints new chief

Swartbooi authority anoints new chief

Auleria Wakudumo

The Swartbooi Traditional Authority has designated Charles Williams as their new chief following Daniel Luipert’s retirement last Friday.

The event took place on Saturday at Fransfontein in the Kunene region. Speaking at the coronation ceremony, the chairperson for the Council of Traditional Leaders, Chief Emmanuel /Gaseb, stated that by conducting a smooth transition of power, the Swartbooi (//Khau/Goan) Traditional Authority has demonstrated professionalism and mutual respect towards the customary law of their traditional community.

“It is, therefore, imperative to note that the Swartbooi Traditional Authority has distanced itself from such practice, and strived to serve its people in the interest of the public,” he said.

Speaking at the same event, deputy minister of urban and rural development Evelyn Nawases-Taeyele stated that disputes over leadership often overshadow the collective good.

As such, the //Khau/Goan community stands as a beacon of hope.

“The designation and installation of your new chief is a momentous occasion, marking a seamless succession that many traditional authorities in Namibia struggle to achieve,” she said.

The newly elected chief of the Swartbooi (//Khau/Goan) Traditional Authority said he is ready, and directs his people in the right path.
