SYMLAFA celebrates excellence in style

The eighth edition of the Simply You Magazine Lifestyle and Fashion Awards (SYMLAFA) 2025 lit up the Hilton Hotel on Saturday, with a celebration of Namibian creativity, elegance, and cultural pride. Under the theme “Namibian Excellence: Black Tie and Diamonds”, the event brought together fashion icons, entertainers, and industry leaders for an evening of recognition and glamour.

The awards, now regarded as one of Namibia’s most anticipated lifestyle events, honoured outstanding achievements across twelve categories. This year’s winners included Popyeni Jewels for Accessories Designer of the Year, Boss Beauty Nam for Make-Up Artist of the Year and Leoviich, who walked away with Photographer of the Year. Landy Nangombe and Fortune Lumana claimed the titles of Female and Male Model of the Year, while fashion trendsetter Reinhard Mahalie won both Fashion Influencer and Fashion Stylist of the Year.

Michelle Shipanga and DJ Quality were recognised as Female and Male Radio Personalities of the Year, respectively.  Regina Miranda earned social media Creative of the Year and celebrated designer Kim Matheus took home the coveted Fashion Designer of the Year award.

Monica Geingos, former First Lady of Namibia, was awarded the Diamond Award of the Year, for her remarkable contributions to leadership, empowerment and advocacy.

Speaking at the award, Dino Ballotti, Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, emphasised the vital role of creativity in national development.

“Namibia’s creative industry is not only a source of pride but also a driver of economic growth and innovation. Events like SYMLAFA are essential in nurturing our artists, designers, and storytellers, who continue to redefine what Namibian excellence looks like,” he said.

He added that Namibia’s creative industry is stretching beyond borders, and Namibia has just scratched the surface, and the world is going to know Namibia. MTC, the event’s main sponsor, reiterated its ongoing support for Namibia’s creative ecosystem.

“We are proud to stand with Simply You Magazine in providing a platform that celebrates the best of Namibian talent,” said an MTC representative. “SYMLAFA has become more than an awards ceremony, it’s a movement that uplifts our creative voices.”
