A 26-year-old teacher in the Ohangwena region on Friday escaped a rape attempt after a suspect entered her house at a local school.
The suspect who allegedly entered only wearing his underwear, found his would-be victim in a towel.
The teacher was coming from the shower at around 20h00. It is alleged that the suspect grabbed her, removed the towel and threw it on the ground and forced himself onto her.
“The suspect allegedly further covered the victim’s head with a basin she was carrying, kicked her on the ground and caused her to fall on her back and took out his penis but the victim overpowered him by holding his penis with her hands. It is alleged that the suspect beat the victim with open hands on the cheek, left the scene and also leaving his clothes outside the yard,’’ the police said.
The suspect was later identified and arrested.
At Outjo in the Kunene region, another case of attempted rape was registered after a girl was saved by church members from being raped on Saturday.
The incident happened between 21h00 and 22h00 at Outjo Lutheran Church toilets.
“It is alleged that the 25-year-old woman was at a concert in church, when she received a text message from the suspect, to come to the toilet. It is further alleged that when the victim arrived, the suspect pulled her inside the toilet room by force and closed the door,” the police report said.
The report further read that the suspect attempted to rape her as he was trying to pull her clothes off, and the victim screamed for help.
Church members came to her rescue after which the suspect ran away.
