The Seawork Cares Beach Series 2 Valentine’s edition took place last weekend at The Mole in Swakopmund, marking a huge success for the organisers, Teamflippy.
The event saw 187 participants taking part in swimming, running and aquathlon activities.
Phillip Seidler, co-founder of Teamflippy, said one of their biggest highlights was watching the kids bravely complete their 50-metre (m) and 100m swims.
“Every child received a participation medal, creating proud and unforgettable moments. Despite the cold weather, the atmosphere was warm,” said Seidler. Teamflippy now looks forward to the final Seawork Cares Beach Series, taking place on 28 March 2026 and themed around Namibia’s Independence.
“The final series will see us proudly celebrate the Independence of Namibia, honouring our freedom, unity and strength as a coastal community. It will be a powerful celebration of movement, nation and pride,” he added.
Seidler said the final leg of the series represents growth, hard work and unity for the organisers.
“From the first event with 160 entries to now, pushing close to 200 and aiming for over 200, we have seen the series grow in a powerful way. For the swimmers and athletes who followed the whole series, this final event is the big finish, the moment to celebrate their consistency, improvement and commitment. It’s not just another race. It’s the celebration of a journey,” Seidler said proudly.
The final series will include open water swimming, running, aquathlon and kids swim distances (50m and 100m), followed by a prize giving ceremony.
“We are aiming for over 200 participants for this final Independence Edition.
If the growth continues the way it has been, we believe we can reach and even exceed that number. And that would be a powerful way to close off the series,” he said.
