RUNDU – A 19-year-old teenager, who was arrested in April for being in possession of 115 parcels of cannabis with a value of nearly N$700 000, was granted bail of N$5 000.
Rundu resident Manuweleb Aelesabri Dala was arrested in April at the Mururani police checkpoint. Previously, the State objected to bail as investigations were at an initial stage and due to the seriousness of the offence that he is accused of.
The accused appeared on charges of dealing in dependence-producing substances and the possession of banned substances which the police found in his possession wrapped in four suitcases during a search.
According to the police, the accused was travelling from Rundu en route to the Otjozondjupa region. On Tuesday, Dala appeared before magistrate Mclean Macsco Handjamba, while public prosecutor Michael Munkia represented the State.
His case was further remanded to 7 September for further police investigations.
