WINDHOEK – The three City Police officers who allegedly brutally assaulted a teenager in April after they arrested him, and he later succumbed to his injuries, could not proceed in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday as the docket for their case was not at court.
The matter was remanded to November 07.

Werner Johannes Shekekela, Kleopas Shikalepo Kapalanga and Elia Nakale face a charge of murder.

The matter was early this month remanded to October 29.

The three men are out on bail, which was extended.

The three allegedly beat 17-year-old Mandela Ramakhutla in April this year, during his arrest, and he later died in the Katutura State Hospital.

Initially the three suspects faced a charge of assault, but after Ramakhutla died in hospital, Khomas Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Sylvanus Ngishindimbwa said the charge of assault against the three officers would be changed to murder.

The three men are represented by Orben Sibeya.
