ONGWEDIVA – The 14-year-old alleged to have sodomised a five-year-old boy at an informal settlement in Oshakati was denied bail when he made a brief in-camera appearance in court.
The suspect appeared in a closed session before the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
The matter was remanded to November 7 for further investigations and to allow the accused to apply for legal aid and allow him to undergo screening because he is a minor.
The State objected to the accused being granted bail because of the seriousness of the charges he faces.
Narrating his ordeal, the five-year-old victim said he was playing soccer with other children in the street when the accused called him to a house.
When the boy got there he allegedly took him to the bathroom, pulled his trousers halfway down and repeatedly raped him.
“He said I should lean down with my hands holding the toilet pot and he did satanic things on my behind,” the boy said.
The accused threatened to beat up the boy if he screamed.
When he was done, the victim joined his friends in the street and he continued to play soccer.
His mother only learned about his ordeal after an elderly lady from the location noticed the child sitting on one buttock.
The victim was treated at the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital on Tuesday.
