RUNDU – The Namibian Police in Kavango West on Friday arrested three minors aged between 12 and 16 after they were caught red-handed with two goat carcasses at government’s Bravo San resettlement project.
However, before they could be sent to court, due to their ages, the police released the stock theft suspects in the care of their parents.
“It is alleged that three arrested minor suspects were found in possession of two carcasses of goats in the grazing area to the value of N$2 000, without owner’s consent,’’ said the police in a report.
In a separate case. The police at Nkurenkuru on Friday night recovered some stolen items during a sting operation at the town.
“Our police officers in Nkurenkuru on Friday morning at 11h00 embarked on a sting operation in an attempt to recover some of the items which were reported stolen, during housebreakings that took place during the months of January and February respectively,” said regional commander Julia Sakuwa-Neo.
“The recovery operation was done through vigorous police investigations and is still ongoing,’’ she said over the weekend.
According to Sakuwa-Neo, so far, three suspects were arrested in regards to the housebreaking cases during the mentioned operation and two of the suspects are of Angolan national and a Namibian.
A list of recovered items in different cases includes a Samsung A32, a Huawei phone and a pocket Wi-Fi, a Samsung A21 S as well as another reported stolen Nokia was also recovered along with a Sinotec TV, a DStv decoder, and a speaker.
The items were recovered at Kakuro, Karanawa locations and some at Nkurenkuru open market and were reported stolen from Kulisuka location, Nkurenkuru Extensions 2 and 3.
“All three suspects were arrested and detained at Kahenge police station and were due to appear in court on Monday,” she said.
