Telecom Namibia has rewarded the Brave Gladiators with 30 smartphones following their historic triumph at the Hollywoodbets COSAFA Women’s Championship.

The handover took place in Windhoek on Monday, recognising the senior women’s national football team and its technical staff for their landmark achievement.

Speaking at the sponsorship handover, Telecom Namibia CEO Stanley Shanapinda said the Gladiators have inspired an entire nation with their achievement.

“Their historic COSAFA victory is a testament to resilience, teamwork and the rising strength of women’s sport in Namibia. Telecom Namibia is honoured to support the team and to celebrate their contribution to national pride.” said Shanapinda.

“It is our wish that the 30 smartphones will enable players and staff to stay connected as they continue preparations for upcoming regional and continental competitions. These devices are a gesture of appreciation for the Brave Gladiators’ remarkable achievements. We believe in the potential of Namibian women’s football, and this sponsorship aligns with our commitment to empowering communities through connectivity.”Namibia Football Association (NFA) vice president Jakobus Markus also emphasised the importance of corporate support in developing local talent.

“From the Association’s perspective, our role goes beyond celebration; it is to prepare and develop the next generation of champions. Despite tight timelines, these players demonstrated remarkable commitment. They promised to persevere and today we are witnessing the fruits of that determination,” stated Markus.

He commended Telecom Namibia for its support and called on other corporates to join its efforts, stating that it is through such partnerships that the nation’s potential is unlocked.

The sponsorship, valued at approximately N$100 000, includes 30 smartphones, each equipped with a starter pack and a 31-day JIVA bundle valid for three months.
