The Terminator Returns as The Terrible

Home Archived The Terminator Returns as The Terrible

By Kuvee Kangueehi Windhoek Namibia’s former undefeated two-time world boxing champion, Harry Simon, will finally make the long-awaited comeback on 3rd March 2007, when he takes on South African boxer, Nathan Netshivhera. Simon will step into the ring for the first time in more than five years since the terrible accident at the Benam Boxing Tournament in Ongwendiva. Namibians will get a chance to see their former boxing hero in an eight-round bout, which is expected to be fiercely contested. Although Simon appears to have recovered from the injuries which have seriously compromised his career, he will definitely be rusty after the long lay-off. Simon, who was known as the ‘Terminator’, has also changed his name and will be known as the ‘Terrible’. However, his opponent does not appear to be a tough boxer as he has only managed to win ten out of his eighteen fights. Netshivhera has also lost eight fights and, compared to Simon, who has twenty-three fights – all undefeated – stands little chance. Simon has been training at the Katutura Youth Complex for the last week and some boxers who were training with him said he was regaining his best form. The tournament, which has been sponsored by Bennie’s Entertainment Park and B.H. Motor Spares, will also feature other boxers such as Tyson Uushona. The latter, who is the current national welterweight champion, will take on challenger, Kanime Kanime, in a twelve-round bout. Uushona has also been inactive for the past year but, given his record of twelve fights and twelve wins, he should be able to deal comfortably with Kanime. Nine bouts have been lined up for that evening. Top Namibian artists will also perform at the event.
