Local author Lukas Thomas, who is well known in motivating and coaching circles, is using his creativity to motivate young people, helping them to practice resilience and hope in tough times.

Thomas, who is the co-founder and director of the Radical Mind-Shift Training Institute, a personal development institute in Namibia, has made his name speaking across the country. He has thus decided to bring his brand of hope and fighting adversity to the masses with a book titled ‘None but you can make you’.

Launched in April this year, it talks about personal growth, and how people can overcome life’s difficulties. Thomas said he wrote it to inspire people who are struggling to overcome issues.

“It is about personal development and setting up important life goals in anybody’s life. It is also about changing bad habits. There is always a secret to self-discovery, and that you will know when you read this book,” he narrated. Thomas is of the popular belief that “You are what you make yourself to be”, which he said inspired the title of the book.

“We are the outcome of our hard work and efforts, and for us to achieve something, we must work for it, and put in all that we have to achieve it.”  Asked what inspired the book, the first-time author said: “It is the knowledge I gained through continuous and deliberate studies that inspired me to write and give back what I know to society, and it has been such a rewarding experience”. Thomas is currently working on his second book titled ‘The mind’s power’, set to be launched later this year. “I started writing last year in August, and I plan on releasing as many books as possible within the coming years.”  Apart from his venture into literature, Thomas has also taken part in the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Alumni Network, a private-sector-led philanthropic endeavour focused on empowering African entrepreneurs. ‘None but you can make you’ can be found in local bookshops, and is currently available on pre-order on Amazon Kindle.
