OSHAKATI

A Toyota pick-up rammed into a truck at an intersection along the Oshakati main road on Saturday leaving three people seriously injured.

Police spokesperson for the Oshana region, Sergeant Christine Fonsech, confirmed that Gabriel Shilongo (34) was rushed to hospital with serious injuries and was transferred to Windhoek for further treatment.

The truck driver, Angala Petrus (49), and a passenger, whose name was not provided, also suffered serious injuries. They are admitted at the Ongwediva Medi-Park.

The truck belongs to Dumpco – a company contracted to remove sewage in the town.

According to the police, the Toyota, which was on the main road hit the truck, which was turning into the main road from Continental No 1. It is suspected that one of the drivers ignored the red traffic lights.

Police said both vehicles were damaged beyond repair.
