Action in the Khomas Basketball Association (KBA) will continue with several exciting games slated for the weekend at Unam Gym Hall in the capital.
Today, in the premier division, Unam Rebels will square off against BAS Vikings in a match scheduled to start at 18h00. At 19h30, at the same venue, Unam Phoenix will take on Ongos Shooting Stars, while the final game of the night will see Unam Wolves face Afro Stars at 21h00.
On Saturday, the action will continue with Unam Phoenix taking the court to face BAS Falcons at 12h00. At 13h30, in Division 2, Unam Knights will be tested as they square off against Team Allies. In Division 1, Plaza Warriors will take on Nust Gladiators in another exciting tie expected to commence at 15h00. Later, at 17h00, Unam Cadet will play against Unam Raiders, while Unam Penguin will go up against Quality Basketball Club.
The KBA president said that teams are ready for this weekend’s encounter and expect stiff competition. “All teams are ready for this weekend. The momentum is high as they have played back-to-back games. We expect top basketball to be on display over the weekend,” he said.
On Sunday, teams will return to the court, with Unam Wildcats playing against Nust Dodgers at 12h00, followed by a tie between Unam Pacer and Atlantic Thunders at 14h00.
In the women’s division, Unam Ignites will square off against Atlantic Storm in a blockbuster matchup starting at 16h00, while the last match of the weekend will see Afro Stars take on Afro Lions at 18h00.
Speaking to this publication, Titus Mwahafa from the basketball federation said he is satisfied with the competition level this season. Adding that high competition level will help in putting up a good team for the national team.
“It’s been going well, and I have been impressed with how teams have been playing this season, competition has gone up, compared to the previous seasons. I believe if we play at this level, we could have something to celebrate about soon,” he said. – mkambukwe@nepc.com.na
