WINDHOEK – After witnessing an exciting action-packed round-of-32 in the Bidvest Namibia Cup, it is again down to serious business when action in the round-of-16 gets under way on the weekend of February 27 in Windhoek and Walvis Bay.
With the round-of-16 fixtures officially launched in the capital yesterday, Tigers, who also recorded a gigantic victory of 25-0 over minnows Western Stars in the preceding round, will face stiff competition when they lock horns with Julinho Sporting, while another grilling battle can be expected when defending champions African Stars take on NamPol Omaheke FC.
Coastal outfit Blue Waters, who reached the last-16 via a thunderous 11-1 win over Vietnam Rangers in the round-of-32, will take on Unam FC in what is expected to be an all-league heated affair.
Currently, the pride of Kavango East in the Bidvest Cup, Kangweru Black Tops will look to continue with their fine run when they confront coastal outfit Eleven Arrows in a clash where pride is at stake.
In other action, Young Chiefs take on Premiership side Touch & Go, while Black Africa will take on Rebels, the latter having ousted Civics on penalties in the previous round. Erongo second division side Swakopmund FC will take on another Premiership outfit Citizens. Java-Java will entertain Orlando Pirates.
The 2015 Bidvest Namibia Cup Man of the Match award winners will walk away with N$2 000, while N$5 000 has been reserved for the Man of the Match winner during the final match of the competition, to be voted by the media.
The quarterfinals are set for the weekend of March 27-29, 2015. The semifinal will be held on April 24-26, 2015, with the final set for May 30, 2015, at the Sam Nujoma Stadium, in the capital.
