Fans of Namibia Premiership reigning champions Tigers should make haste – given the low ticket-price and free transport to the Independence Stadium – to support their beloved Ingwe Inyama in this weekend’s Dr Hage Geingob Cup.

Tigers captain Absalom Iimbondi has called on Tigers supporters to fill the stadium on Saturday and Sunday for the prestigious Dr Hage Geingob Cup, in which Tigers will compete for the first time and have their eyes trained on the title.

“We are going to compete for the first time and our aim is to continue doing well and hopefully win the Cup. We have won the league and come Sunday we must lift the Dr Hage Geingob Cup. Our president turns 75 and what better way for Tigers to celebrate and appreciate him by winning it,” Iimbondi enthused.

He is convinced that Tigers will reach the final. “We know Stars will come with a point to prove, but we plan to surprise them on Saturday. Winning should become our habit and we need to put Stars to bed on Saturday. We won our place to play in the Cup, so we will be out to prove [our mettle]” Iimbondi warned.

On Saturday, August 6, the programme starts at 12h00 when the Baby Warriors take on Congo in the second round of the CAF Under-17 Afcon qualifiers, to be followed by the Tigers and African Stars clash at 14h00.

South Africa giants Orlando Pirates and Sundowns will then take to the field at 16h00 to complete day-one action. On Sunday, again at 12h00, Aweh Aweh vs Madiba will meet up in an exhibition match. At 14h00 the third-place playoff match will take play before the final match at 16h00.

Tickets for the competition are available at Computicket for N$20. Fans can purchase tickets for Saturday and Sunday for N$30 only. Free transport for all fans to the venues on Saturday and Sunday has also been arranged.
